We have decided to start a storytelling masterclass for the Venture Cafe Summer School for 2019. It was once a week on Thursdays for five weeks for the month of August. The master class was designed by Maria Bahamam the founder of Madam Rotterdam and Mike Rynart the founder of the Dutch Daily News. They have knocked their heads together to bring their expertise of storytelling in the field of business and the creative fields. Each session is titled differently and carries out a different topic. Starting from storytelling in a pitch, how to define a company business, branding and ending with social media storytelling.
The first session is titled “The Power of Storytelling” , the session was hosted by Maria and Mike. They kicked the session by explaining the beginning of storytelling. Starting from a hundred thousand years ago when the stone age man develop languages to communicate, cave paintings and down to new age area of powerpoint as method of getting a point across.
They shared the methodology of storytelling and the science behind it. And how stories can induce hormone and neurotransmitters such as Vasopressin, oxytocin’s, serotonin, dopamine and endorphins in our brains. So after knowing that information, how can you not use it to create a good story.
The session was attended by a lot of people with different backgrounds and career choices all in one place for one common goal. To learn how to become a better storyteller.
